AUSTIN — Last-ditch negotiations to save the April 3 Texas primaries appeared dead Tuesday, throwing the state’s messy redistricting dispute back to a federal court that must sort through a widely panned partial deal and pick a new date.

Lake Park man arrested after confronting girlfriend for ‘casting spells’
— A Lake Park man was arrested for assault on Tuesday after he admitted to confronting his girlfriend over the possibility of her trying to cast a spell on him.
Rubin Leonard Hugee, 29, is being held at the Palm Beach County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bond. He is facing charges of aggravated assault and battery.
Riviera Beach Police officers were dispatched to the 700 block of West 5th Street on Tuesday where they found Hugee and his girlfriend of seven years standing in the yard of a home. The girlfriend was holding her hands to her face and crying, according to the probable cause affidavit.
The 28-year-old woman, whose name is withheld in the affidavit, told officers she had gone to her godmother’s house seeking relationship advice when Hugee showed up and began to argue. S
Asian Nurse Cries Discrimination, Violation of California Labor Law
Fresno, CA: When Faye was wrongfully terminated from her job as a dialysis nurse, she knew it was due to discrimination. And she knows discrimination is a violation of the California Labor Law. Now she intends to stand up for her rights: Faye has filed a complaint with a California labor law attorney.
Faye says she was fired because she called in sick on two occasions—only twice since 2004. But it could have been for any reason. And Faye says that she and another Asian woman were the only people working at the clinic who were not Hispanic, and they were treated a lot differently than their Mexican co-workers, to their detriment.
