Over the last few weeks we’ve shared some recent ADA suits in California filed by Scott Johnson, a serial filer responsible for over 1,500 of these suits since 2003. Now we bring you the latest from another serial filer named George Louie, who earned the nickname “litigious Louie” in author Greg Perry’s book, “Disabling America: The Unintended Consequences of the Government’s Protection of the Handicapped”. Mr. Louie, from West Sacramento, has filed a set of legal actions against small businesses in Yuba and Sutter counties, right on the heels of his last set of filings in the area this past December. You can read about it in this Orland Press Register article, which points out the high costs for small businesses just to hire a lawyer even if Louie files a frivolous claim and isn’t awarded any money.

This line pretty much sums up the situation: “‘They just keep going,’ [Wayne Neault, owner of a Marysville construction company] said of those filing what have been called ‘drive-by lawsuits’ filed by litigants who don’t speak with the businesses they sue.”
