“The Daily Beast” is reporting the April 19 launch of space shuttle Endeavor has been delayed. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords’ husband, Mark Kelly, is the shuttle commander for the mission.
The launch was reportedly pushed back 10 days due to a scheduling glitch involving a Russian resupply craft. Kelly said he expected Giffords would be well enough to attend the launch.
Doctors say Giffords is making significant advances in speech, motor and life skills.
Giffords was shot in the head during a public event outside a Tucson grocery store. Six people died, and 12 others were wounded in the rampage.
David Hernandez, the intern credited with helping to save Giffords’ life, recently said he talks to Giffords over the phone, and he is amazed by her recovery.
He said the calls have included “short interactions and long interactions” but declined to be more specific out of respect for Giffords’ privacy.
