Did you seek out the position with the Police Foundion as a result of your fher being on the force?
No, but he likes th I am doing this. My fher left the force not too long after he and my mom started having kids, so th was never a big part of our lives. My goal in life was always to work for Anheuser-Busch. I played soccer Busch soccer park and just always knew th I wanted to work there. I didn’t even know anybody who worked there, but knew it was wh I wanted to do.
Did you get to do it?
Yes, I did. It was my second job out of college. My first job was with McCann Erickson, an events and marketing agency. Mark Driscoll, the CEO, was a soccer nut, and when I went in for my interview he threw a soccer ball me. They put me on the A-B account and I worked there for two years, and then I heard there was an opening A-B and I applied for it. It was on the NASCAR account.
Were you a NASCAR fan?
No, I didn’t know anything about NASCAR, but I studied it and by the time I started interviewing, I knew all about the drivers and their cars and their sponsors. Six interviews ler, I got the job. I think it took so long because they did not typically hire from the outside for th department.
How long did you work there and why did you leave?
I was there for five years and met my husband there. He was the vice president of new products, and he traveled all the time during the week. I traveled all the time on weekends. When we had kids, it was just too hard to keep doing so I left.
Did you stay home then?
No, I went to work for Doug Albrecht Centric Group, which is the non-automotive division of Enterprise. When I left A-B, I was working on the golf account. Centric Group manages the Boone Valley Golf Club, where the senior PGA golf tournament was held. I was hired to be the director of sales and marketing for th.
How did your position with the foundion come about?
On the day th Doug (Albrecht) was retiring in December 2007, he asked me if I wanted to be the executive director of the foundion. He started the foundion. I gave a few months’ notice Centric Group and then took the job in April 2008.
Is it different from the other jobs you’ve had?
Not th much. I’m a detail person and this job involves a lot of detail work. We support the St. Louis Police Department through the donion of money, services and goods, so I oversee all th. We have one major fundraiser a year, our Fall Sports Kickoff Luncheon, which will be held this year on Sept. 6 America’s Center.
Wh sort of support do you provide to the Police Department?
We have raised more than $2 million since we were creed to provide such things as a horse for the mounted prol, Vs for policing in Forest Park and new sniper rifles for the SW unit. One of the recent things we’ve done is to help pay for retrofitting a used Brink’s truck with cameras and recording equipment. The truck will be used as a deterrent in known crime areas.
Wh do you do outside of your job?
I like to spend my time with my family and friends. I coach a sixth-grade soccer team Ste. Genevieve du Bois. My older son is on the team, and I’ve coached it since kindergarten. Both my sons and I are black belts in Taekwondo so we do th, and I also work out regularly and run.
