ANDERSON, Ind. (Herald Bulletin) – An Anderson woman was arrested after police said she twice tried to hit a man with her van and instead hit her house.
Tiffany N. Bowling, 21, was arrested Sunday on a charge criminal recklessness, a Class D felony.
According to court documents, two witnesses told police they saw Bowling backing her van out of a driveway in the 1700 block of Jefferson Street at about 1:25 p.m. Sunday. She then put the vehicle in drive and tried to run over a man, witnesses told police. Instead, though, the van struck the front porch of her home.
Both the porch and her van were damaged, according to police. Both witnesses told police there was no doubt Bowling was trying to run the man over.
One of the witnesses told police that after the first instance the man was walking along the south side of the home and Bowling again accelerated in his direction. The man started to run around the west side of the house to get away from Bowling, court documents said.
The van once again struck the house, this time on the southwest corner, causing damage to the structure and the passenger side of the van. The witness told police that Bowling then drove onto the street then back into her driveway at a high speed, hitting a vehicle parked nearby and damaging it, court documents said.
Bowling was taken to the Madison County Jail and remained there on $5,000 bond Monday.
