Maybe you don17t see a whole lot of a correlation between physics and prostitutes but, then again, perhaps you17re just not looking closely enough. Now that Fairleigh Dickinson professor David Flory has been arrested and charged with 4 counts of promoting prostitution, we should learn that anything is possible. Flory allegedly ran the Web site, called Southwest Companions and catering to the New Mexico area, while working as a physics professor at the Madison campus of Fairleigh Dickinson University.
Though Flory lived in New York City, he was arrested in his whore hub of Albuquerque, N.M. at a local coffee shop. Police began searching for Flory when several local prostitutes mentioned the site to officers.
The site had a vigorous screening process which required, among other things, first time users to sleep with a prostitute. The prostitute would then report to Flory what happened and how much money was spent so that Flory could decide if the consumer deserved full membership.
Local police told the Boston Herald that Flory said he never made a dime off the site, but just to create a safe place for guys to find female prostitutes.1
Personally, I17m most offended by the fact that the site looks like a 199s message board with a Geocities homepage. I know buying prostitutes in New Mexico shouldn17t necessarily be the most high end experience, but we can17t get a little class into our Web design here?
But it seems like a perfectly logical idea for a physics professor from the east coast to run a prostitution ring in the Southwest. In fact, it sounds like a movie. Not a drama, though..too obvious. I17m envisioning a shitty comedy with lots of puns and a wacky friend who comes in while Flory is having sex with his favorite prostitute and goes, Now that17s what I call !1 Then the record scratches and we all laugh and laugh and die a little inside.
