LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Lafayette Police need your help finding the two men who held up a Mad Mushroom Pizza early on Wednesday.
It is an overnight shift Justin Courts will never forget.
“They came up behind me right away and held me over the front counter,” said Courts. “One of them said, ‘This is exactly what you think it is.’”
Two guys walked in the front door of the Mad Mushroom Pizza on Underwood in Lafayette, Indiana. They pulled out a gun and, after roughing up the employees, they left with an undisclosed amount of cash. The two men then headed north down Ulen Lane.
Courts said he first thought what was happening was a bad joke. He realized it was reality when the silver gun one of the guys was holding – went off.
“When the shot was fired we pretty much gave them what they wanted and let it go,” Courts said.
Courts can not get the image of it all out of his head. His biggest fear is it could happen again.
“We do not know if they had a car around the corner,” said Courts. “We do not know how far they got. I mean, they could be anyone around this neighborhood.”
“It is scary to think about something happening like that,” said neighbor Lisa Presley.
Lisa Presley lives across the street from the pizza place. She did not hear the shot, and can not believe it happened in her part of town.
“It is really scary to think that something like that could happen around here,” said Presley. “We have kids and they go to school right down the street. Who knows what could have happened.”
Courts said the robbers wore hoodies, medical gloves on their hands, making it hard to identify them or even say for certain what race they were.
Police said the first suspect is 6′ 4″ tall and weighs between 180 and 205 pounds. This suspect was wearing a dark colored, hooded sweatshirt, ski mask and gloves.
The second suspect was described as being between 5’10” and 6’0” tall and weighing between 150 and 170 pounds. This suspect is believed to have been a white male who was wearing a red, hooded sweatshirt and a red bandanna covering his face. Police said the suspect was described as having blue eyes and blonde eyebrows
